About Us

the seasons story

Seasons of New England took shape motivated by experiences of makers and artisans operating in the larger ‘market’ economy, where product was often competitive in terms of price rather than quality.

A passion for valuing the time and care behind producing handmade products led founder Tara Toomey to explore the possibility of building an inclusive yearly event where local makers and artisans were able to come together to sell their products. Built very much around the belief that local artisans should stand next to each other as equals, Seasons of New England brought together a significant number of stall holders, empowering businesses in a range of sizes as a collective reflection of the talent, passion and motivation to be found in the New England region.

The yearly event has become a place for the region to celebrate our producers, makers and creators of the New England. It is a space where customers can admire the handmade candles at one stall, and meet the beekeeper who supplies their wax at another. This interconnected economy reflects the very best of rural economies, and the shared value of each artisan’s products and place in the community is what makes this event a truly unique experience for stallholders and customers alike.

In 2019 the platform grew to include a hamper business and online retail store, followed in 2021 by a retail store in Uralla.  All of this has allowed the  involvement of even more artisans from across the New England
