19/3/2015

ZNET will be running a series of energy saving demonstrations and handing out information and advice at their stall at the Seasons of New England Market and Fair this Saturday.   The stall will be open from 08:00 AM  to 3:00 PM, Saturday 28th March at Hampden Park, cnr King and Maitland Sts, Uralla.

Energy Efficiency - introducing new strategies and changing old habits
At 9.00 AM, 11.00 AM and 1.00 PM Peter Stanley the Education Officer from Regional Development Australia Northern Inland will be speaking on a range of energy saving subjects directed at the mums and dads of the district towards showing them how they can best make improvements about their household to save energy and so reduce their operating costs.
  • Improving lighting efficiency. Peter will show a lighting panel comparing different types of lamps
  • Upgrade possibilities for household appliances
  • Efficient operation of household equipment - air conditioning, domestic appliances, standby settings
  • Improving the thermal fabric of your home Insulation - insulation, sealing windows and insulating curtains.

This and other talks will held in between these presentations will cover PVs, solar hot water, heat pumps and power storage.  We will have examples of solar PVs and other equipment on display at the stall.

Vacola Bottling
At 10.00 AM, 12.00 PM, 2.00 PM Sandra Low and Owen Croft will be demonstrating Vacola bottling food preservation techniques.

Vacola bottling gives you:
  • The pleasure of saving your own food -  especially if it's something you've grown yourself
  • Avoids the risk of total loss due to power failure when kept in a freezer
  • Avoids the ongoing cost of running a freezer
  • Avoids the large capital outlay of purchasing and the energy cost of manufacturing a large freezer
  • Massive quantities of produce can be stored for later use can be had when the price of that fruit may be quite high later in the year
  • Some wonderful combinations of herbs and spices can fully mature in the stored food over those months of storage

Sandra’s and Owen’s demonstrations have received a very popular audience at recent Uralla Shows.

Insulated Curtains
At 10.40 AM and 12.40 AM Tara Whitton will be showing what options are available for insulated curtains to dramatically reduce heat loss through windows and doors.  She will have a display of options on hand for your inspection.

Information
We will have a number of experts on hand through the day to answer your questions about energy saving and energy making options that are the basis of the ZNET project.  They and the talks will be supported by a number of very valuable energy saving booklets provided by the Office of Environment & Heritage for you to take home.

Rex airlines are a wonderful supporter of the Country Living Seasons of New England event being held on Saturday 8th November and have provided 2 return tickets from Sydney to Armidale for one lucky person to enjoy - or share with friends and family.  You can use the tickets to travel to our fabulous Market & Fair Day, and our Dinner in the Arena, or just to visit at any time!  They might be perfect to entice those family members or friends up to the New England for a visit - so many reasons to enter the competition!

The competition itself is very simple.  Head to our facebook page (www.facebook.com/seasonsofnewengland) and tell us either in a photo or in 25 words or less, "What are you most looking forward to about Spring?".  You are welcome to enter twice - once with a photo and once with words, but only once in to each category.  The owner of the photo or words with the most likes will win the tickets.

The competition will run until 10pm on Friday 5th September, so start thinking of your favourite spring things and let your friends, family and Bob's mother's brother know that they need to vote for your words or photo.

Likes must be legitimate and not purchased, awarding of prize will be at Seasons of New England Pty Ltd's final discretion.  Facebook asks that we explain that this is not a Facebook competition.

It is important to note that the flights must be booked 7 days prior to travel, and that they are valid for travel until 8th November 2015.  Bookings are subject to E class availability (the special fare-type used for these promotional fares) and off-peak flights.  Issued tickets are non-transferable and non-redeemable in cash. One change per flight (sector) is permitted, subject to E class availability and a fee which is currently set at $44.00 per flight (sector) payable by the recipient.

Little Council gets behind Seasons

Uralla Shire Council has decided to throw it's weight behind a New England based producers and artisans, signing on as a major sponsor for the Seasons of New England event.  Held twice yearly in the picturesque town of Uralla, the first Country Living Seasons of New England Market + Fair Day attracted a huge crowd of over 3,000 on 8th March 2014, taking everyone by surprise.  The second event, planned for Saturday 8th November, again at the Uralla Showground, will see Uralla in the spotlight again and undoubtedly everyone will benefit.

“With Uralla on the trainline direct from Sydney and Newcastle, with an airport serviced by 2 major airlines just 15 minutes drive away and our main street doubling as the New England Highway – not to mention at least two east – west roads converging in Uralla – this event makes perfect sense to be based in Uralla and Uralla Shire Council wants to see it continue.”  Says Uralla Shire Council General Manager, Damien Connor.  “The first event attracted a significant out of town crowd, with postcode data collected at the gate showing that approximately 56% of visitors had come from within 30km, 32% from more than 30km away and around 12% - nearly 400 people - travelling between 100 – 500km.  It was amazing for the town and surrounding areas.” Offered Uralla Shire Council Mayor, Michael Pearce.

Great to have you on board!

Lots of time has gone in to putting this together and the finished product has made it all worthwhile!  A comprehensive plan showing you all our stallholders, the musical line up, children's activities, interesting things to learn on the day and key information like where the loo is!  In the main we are asking people to park outside the Uralla Showground, where there is loads of space.  However anyone with impaired mobility should just make themselves known to the Rotarians helping on the gate - they will show you where to park inside the grounds.  A final version accommodating any last minute changes will be printed and available on the day, but in the mean time, here is the map : Market + Fair Day Map

Ben and Amy have a talent for BBQ and they are bringing a bit of a taste sensation to our Market + Fair Day on Saturday 8th March - they will be serving soft shell tacos with spiced chicken or rice and beans (or both!) with mango salsa, slaw and choice of hot sauce.  Also on offer will be their amazing paella - with a seafood, chicken and chorizo option as well as a vegetarian paella.  I love a good BBQ and the way these guys do it is just amazing.  Andrew has already put his order in but I can't decide - will just have to taste ALL of it!

That lovely smell of real beeswax candles has always been a favourite of mine.  I love the designs that Trish at Bee Light Candles (also of Happi Hens free range eggs and Woodside Bee Farm honey), has put together - my favourite is the honeycomb with a bee on the top.  And they last for such a long time too - well worth having a few on display just to enjoy them!

A courtesy bus will be heading to various pick up points in Uralla prior to the dinner - including collecting passengers from the train when it arrives around 5.15pm - and delivering guests directly to the Showground Pavilion, and back again after the dinner.

For guests coming from Armidale, we have a bus organised to collect passengers from a number of locations in Armidale, bring them directly to the Showground Pavilion and then deliver them back to the same locations again at the end of the evening - all for $15 pp.  We are endeavouring to pick up as many people as possible from their home, or at agreed points as close to their home as possible.  Any questions, or to make a booking, please get in touch via email (info@seasonsofnewengland.com.au) or by phone (0434 408 163).
